Steve Morey is a seasoned economic development executive with more than 25 years of experience leading growth strategies across public, private, and nonprofit sectors. He currently serves as President and CEO of the Plant City Economic Development Corporation, where he directs business attraction, retention, and expansion efforts on behalf of the community. Steve has won numerous awards and been listed on The Business Journal’s Tampa Bay Power 100 list, received Consultant Connect’s Top 50 Economic Developer Award, Crain’s Business 40 under 40 Award and projects he has worked on have been recognized throughout the industry. Prior to his current role, Steve spent nearly a decade as Senior Vice President of Economic Development at the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council and earlier led Team Lorain County in Ohio as President and CEO. His career also includes commercial banking and finance roles with National City Bank, Deutsche Bank, and Transamerica Commercial Finance giving him a distinctive blend of expertise. Steve’s experience includes several board leadership positions at the state, local, and community levels. Steve holds an MBA from Cleveland State University, which includes coursework completed at Case Western Reserve University and Mercer University, as well as a bachelor’s from Ohio University.
